Jakarta – Maksim Zhiltsov, a Russian national, has been deported from Indonesia due to a visa overstay lasting an astonishing 813 days, which translates to more than two years.
The apprehension of Maksim occurred on September 14, 2023, at a villa in the serene Ubud area, as disclosed by Tedy Riyadi, the Head of the Denpasar Immigration Regional Office. This information was reported by detikBali on Friday, September 22, 2023.
In the wake of Maksim’s arrest, authorities conducted a thorough search of the villa he had been residing in Ubud. During the search operation, they came across several pieces of evidence, including four passports, one of which was held by Maksim himself.
Furthermore, officials also uncovered an official summons addressed to Maksim from the Denpasar Police Headquarters. Tedy mentioned that this summons was initiated following a public complaint, but he refrained from delving into the specifics of the issues leading to Maksim’s summons by the police.
“We came across an invitation letter requesting clarification from the Denpasar Police Headquarters, summoning the individual (Maksim) in question, in response to a public complaint,” Tedy explained.
In addition to these discoveries, authorities also stumbled upon a list of individuals wanted by the police (DPO) at the villa. However, Tedy clarified that the name listed in the DPO did not correspond to Maksim.
“The DPO does not pertain to the individual in question (Maksim). We are currently conducting further investigations into this matter,” he added.
When queried about Maksim’s activities during his two-year stay in Bali, Tedy revealed that they had not yet obtained comprehensive information regarding his activities or any potential misconduct during his time in Indonesia.
The immigration authorities imposed the penalty of deportation on Maksim due to his prolonged overstay on his visa. Maksim was officially deported through the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport at 19:15 local time.
