Sanur port terminal construction begins, targeted to finish May 2022

The Transportation Ministry kick-started the construction of a passenger terminal building at Sanur Port, Sunday, January 23. This is part of the port construction project which costs Rp398 billion.

“The terminal facility can then serve tourists more appropriately and [locals can] sell delicious Balinese culinary delights there,” said Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi on Sunday evening.

The construction of the terminal building was marked by the first drilling activities and was targeted for completion in May 2022.

Budi Karya hoped that the existence of this port would increase the interest of tourists to vacation in the Golden Triangle of Bali, namely Sanur, Nusa Penida, and Nusa Lembongan. Before the port was built, ships in Sanur docked without a pier.

“So it can improve the safety and comfort and become a new culture in transportation,” he said.

The Transportation Minister urged the construction of the port terminal building to be completed on time with good quality. The construction of the Sanur Port, meanwhile, has been ongoing since December 2020 and has reached 42.4 percent of the overall target.
