GIANYAR ~ After achieving strong results in information technology, SMAN 1 Sukawati is preparing 24 students to go to The Netherlands on an exchange program with a school in Utrecht.
“In September, 24 students from UNIP school in Utrecht will come to SMAN 1 Sukawati. They will be accompanied by three teachers and will study Balinese culture, taking part in playing gamelan, dancing and painting. They will also visit tourist attractions with students from Sukawati,†the principal of SMAN 1 Sukawati, Dr. I Nyoman Sudana, said on Tuesday.
The Dutch students will stay with students from Sukawati in their homes to increase communication between the two groups.
“After the Dutch students’ two-week visit, it will be the turn of the students from Sukawati to go to The Netherlands, in November,†program facilitator and English teacher at SMAN 1 Putu Indra Prasetya said.
Sudana said the program was partly a result of students being enthusiastic and using the multimedia facilities at the school to communicate with students around the world.
