DENPASAR ~ Bali Animal officials said this week that any dogs entering Bali to compete in a dog show must follow quarantine procedures.
Animal entrance and exit laws stipulate that animals entering Bali must have documentation from a veterinarian declaring it healthy, and must have been quarantined for a maximum of 14 days in the past six months, said Livestock Department spokesman Frans Siung.
The quarantine process must be controlled by the Institute of Animal Quarantine at Ngurah Rai International Airport, he said.
During contests, dogs must be closely watched and not be allowed to have any contact with other animals.
They also should not be allowed to take part in any activities except the contest.
After the dogs have competed they are required to leave Bali directly.
Failure to leave Bali after the competition would result in the termination of the dog, said Siung.
