This is an appeal for the entire community in Bali, including the tourists who travel to Bali because cases of sexual violence against children and women is highly increasing in recent years in Denpasar.
In fact, from 2013 to 2014, Women and Children Service Unit (PPA) Denpasar Police recorded in sexual violence cases up to nearly 100 percent.
During 2013, the number of cases of sexual violence handled by Denpasar Police as many as 13 cases, and during 2014 increased to 25 cases.
A note of a similar case in the Integrated Service Center for Women’s Empowerment and Child (P2TP2A) Denpasar also showed an increasing trend.
P2TP2A noted, since 2012 to 2015, cases of sexual violence against children and women is increasing.
In 2012 there were 7 cases, in 2013 there were 9 cases, and 2014 there were 13 cases.
There is an increase almost 45 percent from 2013 to 2014.
“In 2015, up to September has reached 16 cases of sexual violence against children and women,” according to the data in P2TP2A Denpasar.
P2TP2A is a service agency of Denpasar city.
P2TP2A deals with problem of violence against women and children, as well as to fulfill their rights in accordance with the law and minimum service standards.
While PPA is a unit in the police under Criminal Unit functions (Criminal Investigation).
PPA has tasks in providing services in the form of protection for women and children who are victims of crime, and law enforcement against the perpetrators of criminal acts against women and children.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasatreskrim) Denpasar Police, Police Commissioner (Commissioner) Reinhard Habonaran Nainggolan admitted that numbers of sexual violence against children and women are likely to increase in the jurisdiction of Denpasar city.
During this time, Reinhard explained, police has actually been giving article maximum penalty for sexual criminals.
“Certainly the goal is that the actors get maximum penalty,” said Reinhard.
That former police chief of North Kuta also explained, in addition to local residents, a number of cases also involving foreigners.
However, Reinhard did not explain in detail about any citizens who become sexual predators in Denpasar.
“There are foreign nationals involved. The amount is quite many,” said Reinhard.
He said to anticipate that similar cases not to recur, it is also intensively monitor the pockets of settlement of foreigners, including international school which recently easily found in Denpasar.
