Tourism with agriculture are expected to be well integrated so as to foster a symbiotic relationship mutualism in Bali.
I Nyoman Ray, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Udayana Bali, said tourism which is very well developed in Bali is the locomotive of economic growth that would be able to absorb agricultural products, thus indirectly it will encourage dynamic and sustainable Bali agricultural growth.
“Thus, there will appear a kind of trend of green tourism, which is one dream that we expect in the future.” “One side of tourism can thrive as an economic powerhouse of Bali, on the other hand agriculture remains well developed and the younger generation will still concern on agriculture, “he said during the National Seminar on Synergy of Agriculture and Tourism.
If the younger generation is not interested anymore to develop agriculture, the agrarian culture of Bali which is one of the important pillars for tourism in Bali will sag, he added.
“Tourism is currently developing, but if not controlled properly can lead to conversion of agricultural lands that still fertile and the landscape as a whole will be damaged,” he said.
I Ketut Suastika, Rector of Udayana University, said to bring in more foreign tourists, other programs of tourism are needed, such as agriculture.
“Indeed, Bali tourism can not be separated from the culture. Actually Bali tourism opportunities towards arrival of foreign tourists is still very large and still has potential. That’s what we think needs to be developed so that tourism is not monotonous,” he said
With the development of agro today, he added, products or place can be used as attractions while agricultural products can be sold in order to meet the needs of the people of Bali and can be enjoyed by tourists who come to visit.
“Of course it should be maintained as best as possible so that tourism and agriculture could continue to work together in the future.”
