Denpasar Developing Six Favorite Tourism Villages

The government of Denpasar City, Bali, has six tourism villages that are expected to become a favorite destination to be visited by foreign and domestic tourists.

“Six tourism villages owned by the City of Denpasar are the village of Sanur Kauh, Sanur Kaja, Sanur Village, Penatih, Kertalangu village, and Serangan,” said the Head of Tourism Denpasar Wayan Gunawan, in Denpasar on Wednesday.

The purpose of the establishment of tourism villages, he said, in order to realize equitable development of tourism destinations so local people can feel the direct impact of the existence of tourism.

“The direct impact that will be felt by tourists who come for a tour to the six villages is that they can interact with the local community, to feel the daily routine and the culture of the place,” he said.

Through tourism village, he expected, tourists can stay in some local homes and will raises economic activity. In addition, tourists who visit the tourism village got a memorable moment that they interact and get to know local culture.

“Memories get by travelers obtained by visiting the tourist village other than in the form of souvenirs is the impression when interacting directly with local community,” he said.

If tourism villages continue to grow in a sustainable manner, then it will indirectly boost local economies.
