DENPASAR ~
Industry and Trade Department (Disperindag) of Denpasar, Bali requested agencies of rice distributors and retailers not to cheat in setting the price of rice.
“I hope the distributor of rice increase the price sensibly,” said Head of Cooperation and Protection of Disperidag Denpasar Jarot Agung, in Denpasar, on Thursday.
This was done to avoid the hike of price on other basic commodities, and maintain the stability of rice price in the market.
In addition, he expected the distributors not cheating by mixing poor quality of rice with good rice.
“We will continue to check to the agent distributors until Idul Fitri and Galungan holyday,” he said.
Jarot asked the public to be smart consumers when buying goods and see the quality and quantity of goods sold mainly rice.
“When buying rice on the market or retailers in a very low price, consumers should be wary because it was feared there was something mixed in the rice,” he said.
He admitted that his side has not found yet any price cheat committed by rice distributor agent when selling their products to the market.
He recognizes that the cause of the increase in rice’s price is due to many factors one of which is agents in Denpasar mostly received the rice from out of town or regencies.
