The preparation of Festival of Puputan Badung (FPB) 2015 has been done by Banjar (customary neighborhood community) Tainsiat people, ranging from the formation of the committee to the discussion of other activities, to be packaged better.
The festival is in accordance to “Gerebeg Aksara” in September 2015, said Committee Chairman of FPB, Gede Darmaja in Denpasar, on Saturday.
He said the FPB is supported by Denpasar city government because Banjar Tainsiat area is related to heroic event of King of Badung war against Dutch Colonial in 1906.
Based on this history, Denpasar city government included FPB in the annual calendar of activities associated with “Gerebeg Akasara” in September 2015.
“This year we pack FPB earlier to prepare for the festival to be more exciting than previous years,” said Darmaja.
He said that from the beginning the festival is to educate the public about the heroic events that occurred in the area of Banjar Tainsiat.
In addition, he said, it is hoped that the heroic spirit of Puputan Badung may continue to rise in the current era of creative economy with a variety of advances in information technology that able to inspire people, especially the younger generation to face challenges of the times.
Previous FPB was filled with various activities, like culinary exhibitions, photo exhibitions and processions of Mahabandana Commemoration of Puputan Badung in Denpasar started from Catur Muka area heading north at the intersection or Catus Pata Banjar Tainsiat.
Darmaja added this activity is further expanded and packed to be more attractive, such as cultural competitions like Jauk, Utsawa Dharma Githa (the song based on holy book of Wedha) to exhibit the potential of the community.
“Therefore we immediately coordinate with the Department of Culture of Denpasar which will arrange this annual event to be more interesting,” he said.
