Bali Provincial Government rejected to be pilot project of three-kilogram LPG deletion because it is considered causing long impact and influencing the environment.
“We reject it (as the pilot project of LPG 3KG) because Bali is not feasible,” said Deputy Governor of Bali I Ketut Sudikerta in Denpasar on Monday.
According to him, the provincial government of Bali has sent a letter concerning the refusal to the central government considering the island is a tourist destination that involves many micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The industry needs a lot of the 3 kilograms LPG for purposes of supporting tourism among the culinary industry.
The removal plan, he said, are also feared to disturb the environment since many people will switch to use firewood and choose to cut down trees.
“Later after quiet a long time, a lot of people will cut down trees to use firewood and consequently there will be deforestation,” he said.
Central Government planned to make Bali became one of three provinces as pilot project of 3 kg LPG abolition.
