Law Minister Reminds to be Aware of Free Visa Abuse

DENPASAR ~

Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna Laoly reminded the Immigration office to keep raising awareness related to the potential abuse of visa-free which is planned to be given to 30 countries.

“We need to raise awareness as at the same time we have to open the door to increase foreign tourist visits,” he encountered in Denpasar on Friday.

According to him, his party continues to discuss the implementation of visa-free policy, together with a number of other related agencies regarding the security of the country.

The cooperation conducted with National Intelligence Agency (BIN), National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the Police who provide input and information related to the visa-free. This, he added, cannot be separated from the experience of many foreign people who take advantage of visa-free access through visa on arrival.

Some of these foreign people came into Indonesia under the guise as tourists, but conducted crime such as committed by 39 Chinese and Taiwanese people who were arrested by police in Sanur, Denpasar, on Saturday (4/4). They were caught in a luxury villa on information from Interpol and Chinese police who predicted the suspected cases of fraud via internet are in action while having holiday in Bali.

“Since January we continue to do review on visa-free policy. BIN, Police and BNN ask to be careful about that,” he said. Meanwhile, the Immigration office is also being asked to improve their cautiousness related to standard of supervision such as through identification in the form of photographs and fingerprints.
