Search and Rescue Team Prepared for Disasters

DENPASAR ~ To anticipate expected high winds and waves, Bali Police have put the full Search and Rescue (SAR) Team on alert to be able to move rapidly in the event of an emergency, according to Bali Police spokesman Antonious Reniban.

“A vital piece of communication equipment, designed for monitoring disaster events in many areas, has been applied in this plan. As soon as we receive any reports of a disaster, whether it is a landslide, flood or high tide, the information can be transmitted quickly, and the SAR can go directly go to the location,” he said.

Bali Police have operated a helicopter in the past but it was specially brought up from National Police Headquarters.

Reniban said that his department has no helicopter yet.

“If there was one, it would be better, then we could arrive faster at the location,” he said.
