SEMINYAK ~ The decaying corpse of a baby girl was found in a pile of garbage in Seminyak around 7am on Monday last week, police said.

The find was reported by Ketut Kasih, a local nurse, when throwing out her garbage.

“Mrs. Kasih was suspicious of a bad smell coming from a plastic bag in the pile, then she reported it to us,” said a police spokesman.

“The smell has been worse and worse when you passed by the garbage pile. I think the culprit was an outsider since there are no pregnant local women around here,” said I Wayan Sugiyana, a local resident.

When the corpse was discovered it was in bad condition, with half of its head and right hand missing. Sanglah Hospital, where the body was taken, did want to speculate on the condition until the investigation was finished.

“We do not known yet whether the lost parts of the body were eaten by animals, or the baby was born with this condition,” said hospital staff.
