DENPASAR ~
Government of Klungkung Regency, Bali will arrange the center of salt production along Goa Lawah beach as one of the new tourism objects in Klungkung.
“The arrangement will raise two functions at once, the economy and tourism,” said Nyoman Suwirta, Klungkung Regent, in Denpasar, on Thursday.
This planning is based on the local government’s observation towards the enthusiasm of tourists who saw the traditional process of salt making. “On holidays, there are so many travelers who see the farmers who using traditional concepts in producing salt,” he said.
Therefore, he said, Goa Lawah beach area will be organized into an integrated place between salt farmers, fishermen and public areas.
“This is the one that will be packed into a single unit, so that through one work, there will be double impact that could come in. We expected salt farmers will no longer leave their profession, because in recent years the numbers of farmers are shrinking,” said Suwirta.
According to Nyoman Suwirta, the arrangement of Goa Lawah Beach has been started from this year and planned to continue until the coming years.
