Head of the Environmental Center (BLH) of Bali Province Gede Suarjana continues to raise the awareness of local communities to take an active role in managing waste.
“At least people can apply the principles of 3-R, reduce, re-use, and recycling of waste, especially of inorganic waste,” said Suarjana in Denpasar on Monday.
Bali Provincial Government is targeting the problem of plastic waste on the island to be resolved in 2022. “Plastic waste in Bali is about 200 tons per month,” he said.
Therefore, serious action needs to be taken to address this problem and luckily Bali has PT Enviro Pallets in Tabanan that can manage plastic waste.
On the other hand, associated with the plan to provide Integrated Waste Treatment Plant (IPST) on several major temples in Bali, according Suarjana that his side is still observes the readiness of the pengempon or people who responsible around the temple.
“Waste management is not just putting IPST, but requires the readiness of human resources, where should they sell the byproducts and how much garbage to be managed,” said Suarjana.
Meanwhile, the volume of waste in Bali in 2014 as many as 10 thousand cubic meters per day which consists of 5,300 cubic meters of urban waste and waste from rural areas as much as 4,700 cubic meters.
Of the amount, contained plastic waste as much as 680 cubic meters per day (12 percent), other inorganic waste 939 cubic meters (17 percent), and organic waste as much as 3,681 cubic meters per day (71 percent).
