DENPASAR ~
Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika suggested the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to choose Suwung, Denpasar, as the relocation area for Prison Class II A Kerobokan, Badung which has exceeded the capacity.
“That’s our advice, hopefully it’s agreed upon the previous case, when riots happened, it is difficult to control,” said Pastika, in Denpasar on Tuesday.
According to him, if the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights still looking for the land, they can use Bali government’s land which is near the final disposal at Suwung.
“There are 30 hectares for landfill and the rest has no problem to be managed,” he said.
Pastika said that Kerobokan Prison is overloaded as inhabited by more than tripled its capacity and the building is also old. Previous members of the House of Representatives Commission III, Putu Sudiartana during a visit to Bali stated that there is a plan of the central government to move Kerobokan prison.
“Feasibility study of the province and the construction is from the central government,” he said.
Sudiartana also suggested that Drug Dependency Hospital can also be built next to the new prison.
“We try to build it side by side,” he said.
