BMKG urges Balinese Fishermen Beware of High Wave

DENPASAR ~

The fishermen in Bali and beyond should alert towards the rapid changing of weather, causing high waves, said the head of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) Region III of Denpasar Wayan Suardana.

“We call upon the fishermen on the island and all other marine activities to be aware of the high waves up to three meters which potentially occur in the entire territory of Bali,” he said in Denpasar on Monday.

He said, from the weather forecast, a sea wave is quite high, so doing activities in the sea is very dangerous. Especially in the southern part of Bali. “If it is possible, it should be stopped temporarily,” he said.

Suardana further said for the waters of northern Bali, high waves reaching three meters. While in the region of southern Bali is also the same, but always accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain.

“This condition is due to a decrease in air pressure in the south of Bali to the west of Australia, causing strong winds and heavy rain,” he said.

High waves have the potential to reach the area in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and most of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). These conditions also led to the growth of a large and thick cloud so that the potential of rainfall is very high. “We continue to appeal to all the people of Bali to be alert. Avoid being under trees, stay away from areas prone to landslides during the next few weeks,” he said.
