Police Curbs Illegal Transportation in Bali Airport

Denpasar City Police along with PT Angkasa Pura I Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali curbed illegal transportation caught in Pekat Operation at the airport.

General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Ngurah Rai Herry AY Sikado in Denpasar on Wednesday, stated that the operation is expected to eliminate the negative stigma related to the illegal transportation that often complained by the people and feared to spoil the image of the island.

“We also educate the taxi driver that this airport is the gate of tourism that should be kept together so that all the elements involved should provide the best service to the tourists,” he said.

The operation involving approximately 11 police officers, 17 personnel from Ngurah Rai Police Regions and 16 local airport security officers. The focus of this operation concentrated to curb unauthorized transportation in the international and domestic terminals.

He reminded the perpetrators of the illegal transportation not to offer their services in any place outside of transportation that has been registered officially to keep the comfort of the passengers. The operation caught a number of unlicensed transportation operations at the airport, then given briefing and explanation.

“This is an early warning for unlicensed transporters that are still operating at the airport in order to ensure a deterrent effect against the illegal transport. If in the future we still find the same case, we will take decisive action,” said Herry.

    Let’s be honest, it’s about protecting the existing taxi monopoly.

    Tourist complaints aren’t about taxi touts, but about the exorbitant ‘official’ fares.

    Paying a reasonable fare to an ‘illegal’ driver probably has a beneficial effect.
