Vice Governor Asks for Optimization Cultural Park’s Function

Vice Governor of Bali Ketut Sudikerta asked his staff to optimize the function of the Cultural Park by improving facilities and infrastructure, so it can be used as a center for arts and cultural activities.

“Balinese arts and cultures are one of the local prides and appeals as a leading tourism destination in the world. Arts and Balinese culture must remain alive and sustainable even in the middle of the era of globalization. The role of Cultural Park should be optimized as a center of Balinese cultural arts activity,” said Sudikerta in Denpasar, on Sunday.

On that occasion, Sudikerta instructed the relevant officials to improve infrastructure in the Cultural Park. He highlighted the need to improve the arrangement of stage performances, the cleanliness and beauty of the park and the river, parking lots, as well as an increase in the activity of art.

After the review they will continue to hold a coordination meeting between work units (SKPD) especially the Department of Public Works and Bali Provincial Cultural Office to intensify improvements in the Cultural Park.

The funding of the improvement of facilities and infrastructure will be accommodated on the local budget changes in 2015 or main budget in 2016.

“This requires further study together considering Cultural Park is very spacious with a variety of activities that have to be sustainable,” said Sudikerta.

During this time a number of arts activities already carried out at Taman Budaya as training of dance, training of art literature and training of ‘gambel’ (Balinese musical instrument) for beginners in Ksirarnawa stage, while training for advanced ‘gambel’ is at Exhibition Building Mahodara Mandara Giri Bhuana as well as training of painting at Angsoka stage performance. The whole trainings are attended by nearly 500 people consisting of children to adult from inside and outside Denpasar.

This training is free without any registration. Students just come and bring their own supplies. The usual training held once a week every Sunday morning from 9 am until finished.

Trainers for four categories are from Indonesia Art Institute as many as 14 people and they are paid through local funds.

On the occasion, Sudikerta also looked around at the Cultural Park and had dialogue with some students who were carrying out various activities. He also advised to always keep the beauty of the environment by not littering.
