Minister of Tourism Establishes ‘Pesona Indonesia’ as Country’s Branding

JAKARTA ~

Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya established ‘Pesona Indonesi’ and ‘Wonderful Indonesia’ as country’s branding that must be used in any promotion of tourism.

“It is still allowed to make the destination branding in each destination that is used together with Wonderful Indonesia or ‘Pesona Indonesia’,” said Arief Yahya in Jakarta, on Tuesday night.

He asserted that in the field of tourism marketing, all stakeholders are expected to jointly conduct a more vigorous promotion.

Efforts of country’s branding establishment are a must to be conducted in addition through product differentiation.

“We also need to utilize ICT (Information and Communication Technology) promotion, but also by not leaving the conventional promotion techniques,” he said.

According to him all stakeholders can also be responsible in supporting the achievement of tourism targets that will be implemented in each program and financial support such as image promotion.

Promotional image of regional area in Indonesia, he said, could be done by using minimum 20 percent of  Wonderful Indonesia and Pesona Indonesia branding, as well as a maximum of 80 percent of destination branding, promotional packages destination, and support the promotion efforts through positive news.

The government is targeting foreign tourists visit by 20 million people in the next five years and the movement of 275 million of domestic tourists, as well the increase on Indonesian tourism competitiveness at the world stage based on Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index of the World Economic Forum, which currently Indonesia is in70th position and is hoped can rise to 30th position maximum in 2019.
