Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika to develop a governor rule that requires hotels on the island to implement a development platform that is based on the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana (THK).

“I expect there should be legal rules that force entrepreneurs, hotel and restaurant to actually implement this philosophy (Tri Hita Karana) in their business plan,” he said on Saturday.

This was revealed by Pastika as about 2,000 hotels listed in PHRI (Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association) of Bali, less than five per cent or only 105 hotels that continuously implement THK.

Though the concept of development in Bali since 1969 is based on the philosophy of the three harmonization; those are human relationship with God, human beings with Nature, and fellow human beings.

Based on his observation, Pastika admitted that many hotels that do not pay attention to the philosophy. It can be seen from hotel’s building that does not pay attention to the concept of Bali.

The governor also said that he has asked Regent of Badung to admonish the hotels that do not implement THK

The governor will even immediately consult with PHRI to revoke the status of a star for hotels that do not implement the philosophy.

“If necessary, the star status is revoked. I will be working together with the PHRI,” he said.

In the future, if the governor rule will be adopted, it is expected to be upgraded to local regulations regarding the implementation of Tri Hita Karana to have a stronger legal basis.
