Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) of Bali Jaya Susila said the price hike of premium and diesel fuel will not have a significant impact on the economy and tourism.
“The impact of the fuel price on tourism in Bali has not seen significant,” said Jaya Susila, in Denpasar on Friday.
However, the impact will be felt over the next six months for the hoteliers and travel agents in Bali
“The fear as a result of the rise in fuel prices will affect economic growth and would bring down the tourism,” he said.
Therefore, government policies related to the reduction of tax costs for hotels and travel agents is needed so it can reduce inflation and prevent economic downturn, especially in the field of tourism.
For that, with a reduction of tax expense in tourism sector, he added, the economic productivity of tourism in Bali will grow and thrive.
He said that for the cost of hotel tax and other tourism sectors which previously is 10 percent is expected to decrease to 7.5 percent.
“Even though there is no complaint from employers and workers of the tourism sector yet, through the effort it can reduce the economic burden of the people,” he said.
