Plan of Benoa Bay Reclamation Need Assessment

DENPASAR ~

Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti said that reclamation plan in the Benoa Bay, Badung, Bali needs study of a variety of disciplines so that no one or parties will be harmed.

“There is nothing wrong with the reclamation plan of Benoa Bay which reaches hundreds of hectares, if it is done properly. But on the contrary, if it is done improperly, it will bring bad effect, especially on the economic side,” she said, after opening the “Bali Tuna Conference “(BTC) in Kuta, Bali, on Thursday.

According to her, the project must be based on the right consideration. This was done to ensure that the order of the environment is maintained properly.

“If there are other alternatives besides the construction of the reclamation, it would be very good. So, of course I will put study on it. If you can build the pile, scribble, and so forth, such as building a bridge that would be very good,” she said.

She said that her side still learns the results of the study. She also cannot agree and do not agree about the reclamation.

She also will conduct in-depth analysis on the study. “We see the study, analysis and the assessment. Due to the construction will be at bay, there will be an impact on many things,” said Susi, who was accompanied by Vice Governor of Bali, Ketut Sudikerta.

“Many community’s developments which are irregular eventually become a dumping ground for rubbish. Thus, both land reclamation and trash are the things that we need to validate to be analyzed how best to do it,” she said.

He said large-scale reclamation for property projects also must consider the advantages and disadvantages of environmental aspects.

“Actually, it is not about profit or loss in managing the environment. Because the environment is everything and vital for all of us,” she said.
