Bali craftsmen take benefit of Thailand as a destination to export handicrafts with artistic value to the be offered to international community who enjoy a vacation to the country.
“In the ASEAN region, Thailand is one of the tourist destinations that can be used for various handicrafts Bali market share,” said Ni Made Purniati, exporters of handicrafts in Denpasar on Sunday.
The neighboring countries is a magnet for foreign tourists who want to know the location of Phuket beach, Pattaya that are well known and mountainous region of Chiang Mai, certainly on the way tourists also want to buy cinderamata (handycraft).
“We take advantage of it for the fame attraction can sell handicrafts from Bali,” she said.
Small industrial products and handicrafts Bali that meet market demands in form of household furniture, are made with a customized international design based on market demand at an affordable price.
Jewelry earrings, brooches, glass frame, many of them are shipped to the ASEAN countries , of course everything is sold back to the foreign tourists who have vacation there.
“It’s not a problem, Bali handicrafts sold in Thailand or any other country in the world, which is an important market for Bali. The handycraft will be sold to consumers who want it in the country,” said Purniati.
The export for Bali handicrafts this is still limited to countries in the ASEAN region in addition to Thailand that many are also sent to Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia.
Based on the records of Industry and Trade Department of the Province of Bali that foreign exchange earnings from handicrafts small industrial and other non-oil to Bali from the ASEAN region was encouraging, reaching 18.5 million dollars during January-October, 2014.
Of the total foreign exchange earnings, the export to Thailand was the highest recorded, reaching 12.3 million, following with three million dollars is Vietnam, Malaysia 2.4 million dollars, while Singapore reached 1.3 million dollars and the rise are to the Philippines and Myanmar during January-October 2014.
