Goods Transportation Causes Traffic in Bali

Transportation of goods caused traffic jam on roads in Bali that affect the island’s image as a major tourist destination.

Vice Governor of Bali, I Ketut Sudikerta said the congestion and traffic noise is often complained by foreign and domestic travelers who enjoy their holiday in Bali.

“Therefore, from now on we have to apply and fix the regulations with strict sanctions to the individuals so that the arrangement of goods transport can smoothly run,” said Sudikerta.

He added that the operational schedul of goods transport shited into the evening is also quite effective since the traffic activity in the morning is chaotic.

Alternative time given is 10 pm to 6 am, 6 pm to 5 am and 7 pm to 6 am to vehicle such as container of 20 bits, wingbox and trucks payload type of iron, ceramics, cement and sand mining.

In addition, the change of route from the port of Ketapang, Banyuwangi directly to the port of Lembar, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara without going through the island is also expected to reduce traffic congestion in Bali.

Vice Governor urged to form a team to overcome this problem, a team from the Department of Transportation (Affair) Province, Transportation Department district / city, police, and other institutions.

The team also will make temporary stop for the drivers to rest in order not to get sleepy on the road to prevent traffic accidents.
