Local Wisdom to Protect Bali Tourism

Deputy Minister of Education and Culture, Wiendu Nuryanti, expected that local wisdom becomes the solution in protecting Bali tourism as a result of the opening of the globalization era.

“We are rich in local wisdom as it is an important root that is often disregarded because of the tourism sector,” he said after being a speaker in international seminar entitled The Future Open Fortress of Bali Tourism held by Udayana University in Denpasar, on Monday.

According to Wiendu Nuryanti, the local wisdom to protect the tourism support, both physical and non-physical that have more critical resistance.

One of the local wisdoms that is not only a regional solution, but also international, which is highly relevant on the island, is called Tri Hita Karana giving three harmony in balancing continuity of life between God, man and the environment.

She expected that the local wisdom to be optimized to control the pace of development in the tourism sector, which is increasingly out of control in a particular region.

The problem of facilities, among others is construction of tourism infrastructure like a hotel leads to equality in development and give impact to traffic density or traffic jam in some tourism areas.

In addition to physical facilities, non-physical facilities problems also affect in terms of community psychology and social impact.

“This non-physical facility is more critical. Planning is one of the answers,” he said.

Currently, DPRD (Legislative Council) Bali with the provincial government of Bali are working on the Draft of Regulation on the Zoning Referral that is still under discussion, which will be completed before the parliament duty ends in 2014.

Wiendu appreciated the existence of the regulations draft that will be the local regulation despite it hasn’t been decided yet.

She reminded people of such local wisdom because Bali is a small island that becomes the center of Indonesia tourism.

Moreover, the number of foreign tourist arrivals and also the local tourists adding the density of the island, which raises the issue of carrying capacity.
