Nusa Penida Festival to be held Coincide with Marine Conservation Area Opening

Implementation of Nusa Penida Festival on 8-11 June 2014 held at the same time with the opening of Marine Conservation Area (KKP) on the island, which is about 11 kilometers South from the main island of Bali.

Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Government of Klungkung, Wayan Parna, in Semarapura on Friday, said that the event will be attended by the Minister of Marine and Fisheries, Sharif Cicip Sutarjo.

“We hope that the Minister can be present at the opening of KKP Nusa Penida,” he said.

According to him, the Regent of Klungkung, I Nyoman Suwirta, will deliver an invitation to the Minister directly in Jakarta.

He hoped that these activities can accelerate progress in the field of tourism in Nusa Penida and potential of the communities in Klungkung Regency.

The organizers have prepared a variety of performing arts, such as Gandrung Bangun Urip, Baris Jangkang, Sanghyang Gerodog, Sanghyang Jaran, Sanghyang Bojog, Mask Dance, Silat Stembak, Gambuh, Sanghyang Dedari dance, Angklung, Beleganjur, Cungklik, Mapeed Janur Gebogan, Parwa Wong Nusa, and Rudat.

Besides, traditional games like Matulud, Makepung, Mapeed and exhibition of plantation crops and marine crops of the island community.

The activities will also be filled with a cross-country race, in which the participants also have the opportunity of weaving and plowing in Sakti Village and Tanglad Village.

The race participants are also invited to help preserve the coral reefs in Crystal Bay Beachby using traditional boats.
