Iranian citizen was sentenced to one year in prison for smuggling marijuana weighing 5.44 grams through Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali.
In the trial in the Denpasar District Court on Wednesday, Cening Budiana as presiding judge considered defendant Anthony Simonian Kordolia Alexander (30) be in breach of Article 113 Paragraph 1 of Law No. 2009.
The verdict is lighter than the prosecution, which is five years in prison and a fine of Rp 1 billion subsidiary eight imprisonments.
The defendant was caught by Customs Officer Ngurah Rai Airport on 7 April 2013 bringing 5.44 grams of marijuana in his bag.
During the course of the trial, Anthony being quite polite and never dodged any accusations. This attitude was considered by judges to relieve defendant’s sentence.
While aggravated thing is that the defendant who is a designer gives a bad image to the island of Bali. Either the defendant or the prosecutor stated to think about the verdict.
