NUSA DUA ~ Bali approximately will earn Rp500 billion (US$53.7 million) from the United Nation climate conference, Minister of Culture and Tourism Jero Wacik said.
“In a short time, we will earn at least Rp500 billion from hotel and restaurant bookings, and souvenir sales to the delegates,†he said.
The minister is also convinced that the success of the event will reflect Bali internationally as a tourist destination that has adequate security.
In the long run, the minister expects that the conference itself will be good for the promotion of tourism in Bali tourism by the good impressions carried back by the international delegates and the media.
“Therefore we expect that by the commencement of Visit Indonesia Year 2008, they will bring along their family to come to Bali,†he said.
