Blabatuh Residents in Temple Dispute

GIANYAR

A dispute between two banjars (neighbourhoods) at Buruan, Blabatuh, over access to a temple sparked a row last weekend when residents of one broke through a fence around the temple and people from the other closed it again.

People from Banjar Getas opened a one-metre section of the fence last Friday night to reach Pura Kahyangan, where they traditionally pray on special occasions. Residents of the neighbouring banjar, in which the temple is located, closed it again on Saturday morning.

Police and local officials are trying to solve the dispute.
