Sulawesi Struck by Quake

DENPASAR

A moderate 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit North Sulawesi province on Sunday, the US Geological Survey said, but no tsunami warning was issued.

The quake struck 120 kilometres southwest of provincial capital Manado at a depth of 130 kilometres, at 8:33am, the USGS said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Indonesia sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” where the meeting of continental plates causes high volcanic and seismic activity.
