Police have put a stop to an illicit drugs-by-post operation in which shabu-shabu (crystal meth) was sent to Komang Swiarta, of Busungbu in Buleleng, by postal packages containing rice dishes.

Drugs squad officers became suspicious and kept track of letters delivered to Swiarta.

Police said they seized the latest package last week and discovered the crystal meth in the food inside.

They believe it was part of an elaborate scheme organised by prisoners at Kerobokan and probably involves other jails in Bali as well.
