A broken cockpit window on an airplane belonging to local carrier Batavia Air grounded the craft before it eventually took off from Palu in Central Sulawesi on Thursday, officials said.

The glass cracked during a flight from Surabaya in East Java on Wednesday but there was no apparent emergency on board and the plane landed without incident, a Palu Airport official, Abraham, said.

“Technicians fixed the problem (on Thursday) by replacing the broken window,” he said.

It was not known what caused the glass to break.

Passengers were eventually able to board the plane for a 9am flight to Jakarta.
